I woke from an unintended nap long enough to hear several acorn woodpeckers making a ruckus when it was almost entirely dark. They ought to have been asleep by then. I have no idea what set them off, as I went back to sleep and didn't wake again until eleven o'clock. What has become of my schedule? I blame the soporific heat that wilts my brain as quickly as it wilts the grasses in the fields. Now I'll probably be awake past dawn, and tomorrow I have a head-yanking appointment. Well, maybe I can find something dull on television that will put me to sleep again. Oh, summer.
