Reset Forty-Two, Day Twenty
The good news is that my Idernet connection stayed on all day Thursday, and was fast enough that I could play videos. The bad news is that every damn day of the next eleven is forecast to have a triple digit high. We've already had several days of that, and I'm already sick of them. And the nights will no longer get very cool. Even after the eleven days are up, the highs will stay in the high nineties. This is the longest spell of days this hot that I can remember, and my memory goes back many decades. The air conditioner has been running day and night. I should be getting a utility bill in a few days. It might be for the best if the size of it gives me a fatal heart attack. I won't have to endure August.
For the rest, Thursday was not restful. Breakfast was the penultimate stale donut, and dinner was a sandwich on the penultimate two slices of stale bread, toasted. Once again I forgot that I had an ear of corn rotting in the vegetable bin, the place produce becomes invisible and dies. Maybe I'll remember it today, but I wouldn't count on it. Odds are it's already inedible anyway. It's also clear that my next shopping trip will have to be on a day hot as hell. In the meantime I'll muddle. If I get to keep Idernet it will reduce the chances I'll be unable to resist vanishing entirely into a fantasy world. I have mixed feelings about that.
