Reset Forty-Nine, Day Three
Thursday would be a memory, if I till had the capacity for such things, but one thing stands out: while I was having my evening nap I heard rumbling which woke me up, and soon realized it was thunder. I was too tired to get up and see if there was any rain falling, and wouldn't have seen much if I had as it was night by then, but I remember being wakened by the sound more than once. I ended up sleeping until four o'clock this morning, then forgot to look outside when the light began to grow to see if there was any damp around. There isn't any now. But May thunderstorms can be very bad news here. One in 2008 (I think) set fires that subsequently burned all summer.
It might be that things are still too green to burn this year, as wet as the winter was. At the moment, the only burning I'm sure of is in my stomach. I made chili beans for dinner Thursday, and probably overdid the spices. They were tasty though. At the moment I'm thinking of making some breakfast, as the heartburn is not eliminating my hunger. I think I might be able to down some hash browns and scrambled eggs, if I don't put too much pepper on the eggs. And then I think I'll have to sleep again, as I keep nodding off. I just can't seem to stay awake for long most of the time anymore. Nut maybe I should nap before eating. That might be smart. I wonder if I'm smart today? It happens so rarely anymore.
It's pleasantly cool right now, and only going up to 82 today. What a relief from the nineties earlier in the week. It might stay merely balmy rather than sultry through the first week of June. That would be nice. This is more like normal late spring weather around here. Normal happens so rarely anymore too. Hey, I'm in synch with the weather. How did that happen? Never mind. Don't want to jinx it.
