Reset Forty-Nine, Day One Hundred-Eighteen
Monday's surprise malfunction was something going wrong in my right ear. It cuts in and out and makes fluttery noises, and occasional pops or clicks, as though a swarm of Rice Krispies were drowning themselves in my ear canal. And thinking of that, I also must think of my ears as a kind of near-cerebral Venice, a popular vacation spot where tiny tourists float along in fancy gondolas oohing and aahing at the various sights as the gondoliers sing colorful songs I can't hear because my ears are screwed up!.
Anyway. Absurd thoughts are usually a sign I've been awake too long, unless they are a sign I've drunk too much, which currently I haven't, so I guess I'm sleepy. I'm also sneezing, which is probably a yard-related thing, as I was outside for a bit in the evening air watering plants. I probably inhaled a bunch of leaf mold, as there is a lot of decayed plant matter out there. I just can't keep up with the damned stuff anymore.
Aside from that, everything is pretty much new normal: my joints are stiff, my legs ache and don't want me to walk on them, my back stiffens up after half an hour in bed and my butt gets sore after half an hour sitting. But at least my acid reflux has diminished after a protein-rich dinner with lots of mushrooms that weren't quite gone bad despite having been bought a week ago last Friday. I have no idea how they survived so long, but they did, and I'm very glad for it. I should get more of those next time I shop, which I hope will be this coming Monday. I will devour the last of my current supply of donuts on Sunday. Cinnamon toast for breakfast Monday morning then, and shopping Monday afternoon. Something pleasant to think about while I drift off to sleep moments form now. I hope.
