51/18: Dullard's Laments
Oh, I thought I'd already written an entry today and was about to shut down the machine when I discovered that I hadn't. Forgetting to write and entry is the sort of thing a stupid old guy would do. Oh, right. Of course. But since I finally remembered I guess I'm not quite entirely stupid yet. Just mostly stupid. Maybe that's why I enjoy sleeping more than being awake now. It doesn't matter if you forget stuff while sleeping. At least not as far as I know. But what do I know? I'm a stupid old guy, after all.
Sunday dinner was a grilled cheese sandwich. I haven't made one in a very long time, but it turned out well. In fact this was the first time I've made one in my new cast iron skillet, and I'd forgotten how nicely cast iron fries them. I made a bit of fried cheese too, and that was excellent. It's nice when something turns out well.
A heat advisory will go into effect here Tuesday, but today won't quite reach triple digits, so I intend to luxuriate in the mere balminess which will be dissipated by a low of 62 overnight. The mini-metropolis is sort of on the edge of the very hot zone this week, and it will be worse farther south. Our nights will sty in the sixties, while Sacramento could get stuck with lows in the seventies. And even San Francisco is predicted to top 90 degrees tomorrow, which hasn't happened there in two years. It's a rare day when the north valley is only ten degrees warmer than the City.
My fingertips are still irritated and tender, and the ointment I put on them last night doesn't seem to have accomplished anything. I might put some more on in a while, when I intend to try napping for a while. I didn't really finish sleeping last night, but woke up about half past four and then spent a couple of hours with hamster brain until I gave up and got up shortly before dawn. It's been a dull day so far, and I might be bored enough to sleep now.
