51/32: Partly Cloudy with No Donuts
Lying in bed this morning remembering how I'd lain there Sunday evening, having seen 7:30 on the phone clock and mistakenly believed it was already Monday morning, I realized that I really do not like my new quasi-normal yet still weird sleep schedule. I'm awake in the damned mornings, but sleep away the afternoons and then can't keep my eyes open by midnight. It's sort of the worst of both worlds. The only thing I enjoy about it is that I get to hear the mockingbird sing in the morning, and that will only last while the weather remains mild. Once the mornings turn cold I'll have to be keeping the windows closed most of the day, then all of the day.
But today and tomorrow will still be mild, and I'll be able to have the windows open until near noon. Wednesday the high will drop down into the seventies, and there could be morning rain. For now, the long range forecast is showing no highs below 73 and only one low below 50 through October 28th. Odds are we won't get any serious cold until November, and maybe even December. I'd be pleased not to need the furnace for another month, and I'm pretty sure air conditioner season is over for the year.
If I still had energy for doing things I'd walk down to the Grocery Outlet today and see if they had some donuts, and maybe some brewed tea. I'd probably end up with some foolish impulse buys too, so maybe its best that I'm effectively housebound. I can probably survive hanging out here and just watching videos or maybe reading a few more pages in my long-neglected book. It might be cool enough to bake a package of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls to replace those missing donuts. Coffee will be an adequate substitute for tea. Life is less than utterly miserable. Just kind of a sad, though thankfully no longer sultry, drag.
