52/141-142-143: Luxury
As Thursday was a holiday with no mail delivery I didn't have to go out in the heat to check the box, and then Friday got considerably cooler and I didn't mind going out. It turned out to be a great trip that day, as I got my utility bill and discovered that I did indeed manage to keep the expenditure below the credit, so for the third month in a row I have nothing to pay. I've got three bucks and change credit remaining, but as I'm expecting July to be incredibly hot it's unlikely to make much of a dent in that bill. In fact I won't be surprised if it tops a hundred bucks in both July and August. Maybe I can squeak by with something in the nineties in September, or maybe not.
The kitchen sink drain is still unfixed, but since I'm still avoiding cooking as much as possible, due both to the hot weather and the detergent allergy playing havoc with my skin, there aren't many dishes to do anyway, which keeps the inconvenience minimal. Tonight's dinner, if I even get around to it, will be a sandwich again, so pretty much just a butter knife and a beer glass to wash. Lunch was just a smoothie. I'm enjoying the coolish day, as it's apt to be the last one we get until autumn. And of course today is the summer solstice, so I 'd like to think it's an omen for the whole season, but that would be the equivalent of hell freezing over, (or would actually be hell actually freezing over.)
Afternoon keeps going by and I keep dozing off and should probably take a nap. There's certainly nothing else to do. The sandwich can wait until nightfall. I've got a can of Summerfest beer, so I just realized I won't even need to wash a glass. It's going to get so cool outside tonight that I'll probably be able to get the apartment down to about seventy. Such luxury!
