Balmy
The big cumulous clouds are back, helping to moderate the heat, and the afternoon breezes have been brisk and cool. The place always looks its best on days such as this, and smells nice, too. Enough of the grasses in the fields have dried that there is a hint of that smell that usually arrives only later in the summer -- a scent that is a combination of earth and grass and something almost like baking bread. And, of course, there is also the ever-present aroma of pine resin. It would be a perfect day to laze about in the shade with a glass of iced tea, but I'm too busy. The cat will laze about in the shade for me, and tell me about it later.
