Springy

So somebody is moving in next door. Thus far all they're doing is tidying up. Today it sounded like they had an airless paint sprayer going for a while. I haven't gone over to bother them yet. Better still, they haven't come over to bother me yet.

Thinking about real estate (goodbye, bubble), I went to check the L.A. County Assessor's Office website where they have a dandy thing called a parcel viewer that lets you find out various bits of information about individual parcels, such as what the current assessed valuation of land and improvements are, what year the building (if any) was built, what the last sale price was (if it was sold within the last two years), and such. I must say, even with the collapse of the bubble, my old neighborhood is still way beyond my current means, and my old neighborhood was (and still is for the most part) fairly low-end. Seeing a row of three vacant, steep hillside lots where we used to hang out as kids (and which I remember each being sold for three-figure prices) collectively bringing in close to half a million recently just sort of freaks me out.

Also freaky is the most bizarre ad ever posted in [livejournal.com profile] vintage_ads. Hysterical paroxysms OMG!!! I think a couple of the commenters got (or gave) them, too.

Typical St. Patrick's Day scene in Los Angeles.

i'd read that doctors used to do that. as one commenter mentioned, that's why vibrators were invented. can't believe the guy got away with the picture in the ads, though!

it looks like the horse is dancing. :)

are the horses having fun, i wonder, or just responding to the riders' prompts? that video of the dancing bird made it clear the bird LOVED the music. *g*

thanks for the links! very interesting. :)
