Pizza

It's a pretty pathetic day when the most interesting thing that happened is pizza.

Well, there is a web site I found: Song Writers Hall of Fame, where they have biographies and pictures, and clipped song bits. Here's E.Y. "Yip" Harburg's page (the guy who wrote "Over the Rainbow" with Harold Arlen.) I always wondered how he got his nickname. Now I know: It's taken from "Yipsel" which is the Yiddish word for squirrel.

Also, Indiana University presents the Charles W. Cushman Collection. Cushman donated to the University about 14,500 color slides he made between 1932 and 1969, and now they are available on-line, in pretty good scans. Photos from all over the United States and some from other countries. Here's a Lincoln Zephyr in Elysian Park, Los Angeles, on June 14, 1940.

OK, the Internets prevented it from being a totally dull day. Thanks, Internets.

wow, i didn't know my alma mater had a digital library! i've not been paying attention. *s* thanks for the links. the cushman database is down right this minute, but i'll definitely go look again. (i noted with regional chauvinism that cushman had more slides shot in illinois than in indiana. infidel!)

please to be noting my *Breaking Away* icon, which i use for all IU purposes. :D
