Another Catty Post

Alger the feral cat might be getting friendlier. He actually rubbed his head against my leg briefly while yowling at me this evening. I guess that could be construed as friendliness, though he might have simply been marking me as part of his territory. He still hissed, of course. His leg is still pretty bad, though he did manage to hop onto the sink board on the back porch to chase a moth. That was a pretty good leap for a virtually-one-legged cat.

He is also showing stronger signs of wanting to come indoors again, though I'm sure he would freak out almost immediately if he did get in. After his extreme panic the first time he came in, I'm surprised he wants to repeat the experience, but he gets very close to the door when I open it to go back in after filling the food bowls. I guess his curiosity overpowers his fear.

There could be two days when the sun shines for a while, then it's back to rain Saturday. Sun would be useful, if it shows up in the afternoon and not the morning. I didn't wake up until five o'clock this evening. Oy.

Tamales and beans for breakfast! At least I also got beer for breakfast.

Alger didn't seem to be avoiding the use of his leg quite so much this morning. I still have no idea what's wrong with it though. He might have something out of joint, or it might be a sprain, or there could be some swelling hidden by his fur. Difficult to tell with a cat you can't touch.

He might come in if you could prop the door open and stay away from the opening--even wait farther away from the door than he is. We had a semi-wild cat whose first entrance was hard--she was only afraid of the door, but knew exactly what the couch was for!

I'm sure he'd come in if the door was left open and I wasn't near it, but I'd have to leave it open the entire time he was in, and I don't want to let that much heat out of the house. The amount we spent on gas last month was nearly two hundred dollars. Oy.

Anyway, Portia would be livid if I let any of the feral kitties come in and hang around inside her house. She's pissed enough that they get to stay in her yard.
