Because shopping got shifted to Monday, Monday got shot to Hell. I had no idea how many old people and women with babies did their grocery shopping on Mondays. It took forever to get out of there. Plus they were out of stuff that I wanted. Then I got home and had to clean up a wet hairball Portia had hacked up on the couch. All this was on top of me oversleeping because I had forgotten to lower the thermostat after taking a shower. Sleeping in a room that's too hot always puts me in a near-coma.

So my day bit, but things are worse for the cicadas. They've been dying in the sink on my back porch. Oversleeping, shopping, and cleaning up kitty hairballs are all less unpleasant than dying in a sink must be, I'm sure. I still wish I had some of the soup the store was out of, though.

I find it amazing how retired people have to do their shopping at lunchtime. Go figure.

what a day for you! (we've probably discussed dying insects before. nature is so profligate, and so heartless.)

those women with babies are bored out of their minds and enjoying getting outta the house, if they're anything like i was when my boys weere little!

The surprising thing about seeing so many women with babies is that for decades almost the only babies to be seen in this town were the ones visiting their grandparents. Over the last few years more and more young people have been moving in. The demographics are really changing. But this is the first time I've seen so many babies in one place since I moved here.
