The Damp

A morning overcast started breaking up, but then thickened again and now there are a few drops of rain falling. It might or might not turn into a steady rain, but even for now there's enough to make everything smell nice. The change in the weather also kept the smoke away today, and it is blessedly cool, but not so chilly that I have to close the windows. When colder rains come I won't be able to leave the windows open and listen to the raindrops hitting the leaves, so I'm hoping we get at least a few good showers today. At best there will even be enough water to get the downspouts running, and then I won't have to water the front yard tonight. In the meantime I'm going to make some tea. Tea and rain go well together.

Oh good! I'm glad you got some rain! It's spattered rain here today too, and I did make tea. :)

Sadly, the rain never amounted to much. There was a general dampening for a couple of hours, but it remained silent and then the clouds began breaking up. I didn't hear any thunder, so maybe we escaped the electrical storm, at least.

The weather forecast says we'll get another shot at rain a week from today. I await October with bated breath.

No chance for another week? Yikes. We continue to get less rain that usual here, though there was that deluge about a week ago that caught everyone by surprise. Yes, October's sounding good.
