Rats! I lost track of time again and missed most of the show on which English people murder one another. Missing it is always so disappointing. I look forward to those murders as a break in the dull monotony of a suburban American life. Today was especially dull, too, as I spent so much of it napping. I woke up much too early this morning, and then spent a few hours on the couch hoping that the television would put me to sleep, but it didn't work until almost noon, and then I woke up at three o'clock in the afternoon.

Then I had to catch up on the Internets, which has a tendency to get bigger all the time. I have to keep up with it just in case anything important happens on it. The fact that nothing ever has does not dissuade me from following it. Importance remains a tantalizing possibility. I believe that somewhere out there there is a golden web page which will get me a ticket to tour a chocolate factory. There must be! Otherwise I have wasted my life— not to mention a lot of bandwidth, which is probably way more important.

The cricket I heard chirping in my back back yard yesterday is not chirping tonight, but I hear several other crickets in the neighborhood. Perhaps he moved to another yard. I did see one pleasant sight this afternoon; A pair of butterflies were fluttering about in my back yard, probably involved in a mating ritual. The last I saw of them they rose above my rooftop and settled down toward the front yard. Good luck, butterflies. I hope you have lots of offspring who will decorate my yard next year. I'll be careful not to disturb any caterpillars I see.

You need to live on a city block like I do -- there's always someone homeless and off his or her meds screaming at ghosts, or a quick mugging or murder, or just lots of drunks acting up until 2AM when the bars close. I'd go for suburban quiet a lot of nights. ;)

Sorry you missed the English murders. Better luck next time something's on that you look forward to!

No, you're needed there -- your kitties couldn't make it without you!
