Observation and Question

The grasshopper was a musician.

Did the ant care nothing for the arts?

Division of labor. The untalented ant got to listen to the grasshopper while he was working. The grasshopper deserves some consideration for that. I can only concluede that the ant was a a philistine.

The ant was tone-deaf, and also deeply embittered by the outcome of his unrequited love. Am I the *only* one who read Aesop carefully?

The ant wanted to sign the grasshopper to an exclusive contract, and collect a large royalty on every performance. The grasshopper only wanted to busk. The ant signed the cricket, instead. The grasshopper died of exposure in the harsh winter. The cricket lives in a manhattan loft, snorting coke, and his only friends are cockroaches.
