Up Too Late Again

When the kitties are kept indoors all day by rain, they are restless all night and very demanding of my attention. Still, it's worth it to be able to sit quietly (in those rare moments when the cats are occupied elsewhere) and listen to the rain. When I went outside for a few minutes a little while ago there was fog, and as I stood watching its silent, drifting veils, I heard a sudden rush, and the rain returned and I saw the fog washed from the night and the shapes of the trees reappear, the dark world widening as I watched. Now, how could I sleep when there are things such as that to see?

Your descriptions of the weather settling in on your little pat of the world are just captivating. It casues me to look out my own window and wonder what I'm not seeing out there. Thanks!
