Creepy Eye

Juno 5.0 has three tabs in the upper left corner, marked Read, Write and Web. The Read tab features an icon of an eye. When you are using the write screen or the web screen, the eye is closed. But when you use the read screen, the eye opens. I don't think that the people at Juno have any idea how creepy that eye is. And it is made all the more creepy by the fact that it is a metallic green, about the color of a housefly's head. Feh. I wish that thing wouldn't stare at me like that!

I always found that machine on the muppet show that rearranged people's faces was scary... what with those huge vacant eyes and the booming disembodied voice.

Oh and the ripping off and replacing of people's facial features, too.

EW.

Why do people make things like that? Don't they test them on consumers? Couldn't somebody in the whole production department or whatever have spoken up and just said, "Dude, that is one freaky-ass eyeball y'all put there"?

I recommend the tiny post-its. Just put one over that icon on your screen. You can draw a smiley-face on it! Or maybe just a closed eye.

(:

Closed eyes are scary, too. We're talking the ones that never open... because when they do, you just know they are going to turn you to stone or open a portal to hell or shoot lasers that burn your soul or end the universe somehow. I know these things; I read comic books.

Hmm.

You're right.

Closed eyes freak me out too. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Sometimes I'll wake up in the night and look at my cat on the windowsill and she has her eyes closed, and that's scarier than when they're open because I'm WAITING for them to open. And cat eyes are creepy anyway. Like snake eyes. She's never shot lasers at me, but lately it HAS felt like the end of the universe around here...

I've only had two or three nightmares since I was six, and one of them involved closed eyes. I lucid dream, so I can usually avoid nightmares, only I wasn't aware that it was a nightmare until the eyes opened revealing a tear in reality... it was a sudden rush of terror like a sharp gust of wind.

It was very Lovecraftian. I'd always thought that Lovecraft's whole mindblasting thing was very silly... until that dream.

[00:31:16] <Dark> I had no idea I didn't like eyes so much
[00:31:35] <Dark> Maybe that's why 90% of the lj "eye" icons make me squirmy and uncomfortable
[00:31:48] <Dark> or maybe it's just the feeling of being WAY too close to someone's eye.
