Dr. Spellgood

I just want to say that, so far, I'm absolutely delighted with Aspell, the GNU open source spell checking program I picked up to use with Opera, as mentioned in my post last night. It kicks all kinds of ass! I much prefer it to LJ's spell checking programs at either the web update page or in the Visions client. The above link is to the version for Windows, but I noticed that they have a Debian package here. Your choice of 22 languages!

You can use the Aspell dictionaries with Mac pretty easily.

Does the built-in stuff use aspell-format dicts? The "Check Spelling As You Type" option that shows up in pretty much every text-entry field in Cocoa apps makes me pretty happy...

I believe it can. Look for Cocoa Aspell.
