When you have only one phone line, one of the good things about tying it up with the internet in the afternoons and evenings is that the companies trying to sell things over the phone can't get through. HAH! Take that, Dial America! I wonder how many splendid offers to subscribe to magazines I don't want I have missed? The more, the merrier.

For the last couple of days, when I go for a walk, I have been hearing a frog croaking at one particular house. It had a loud, echoing croak that didn't sound quite right. Today, I realized that the frog has taken up residence in the downspout from the rain gutter. The sound echoes quite nicely, and can be heard for some distance. Clever frog. It is bound to attract lots of female attention, or male attention, as the case may be. I don't know much about the mating habits of frogs. But I hope that this one has lots of descendents. Maybe someday, all the houses in the neighborhood will have frogs living in their downspouts.

when I get one of those calls, I always say "just a minute, I want my assistant to talk to you because he takes care of that kind of stuff" and I lay the phone down and later hang it up. Sometimes, I lay the phone down and so the person on the phone can hear, I have an argument with my assistant telling him that I don't care what the guy calling is selling, I'm going to buy ten of them, then I hang up the phone. Of course, most of the time when one of those folks call, there's no one on the line but you can hear the din of phone talkers in the background and then they hang up on you because they're talking to someone else on another line. grrrrrrr

about the frog in the drainpipe.... I guess he hadn't learned about ittsy bittsy spider when he was a tad
