e-Baying at the Moon
Feb. 10th, 2002 06:07 amActually, there was no moon tonight, but there was eBay. For the first time in a couple of months I went and looked at the postcard auctions. There were some nice cards of Pasadena I hadn't seen before. One of the Hotel Green (although the listing called it the Pasadena Hotel) when it still had a bridge across Raymond Avenue. Early 20th century Pasadena was visually fascinating. I would like to have seen it in person. It still had a bit of that look when I was very young, and I have vague memories of places such as the Shakespeare Club and the Pasadena Athletic Club, before they were replaced by today's dull suburbanism. Now, much of it exists only in these old photographs. What brief lives American townscapes have!
