I did a good job of sleeping away most of the first day of the year and didn't wake until almost 4:30 in the afternoon. And I didn't even party last night. This had better not be an omen. If I don't get more sunlight soon I'll turn so pale that I'll fry to a crisp the first time it emerges. There probably won't be much sunlight this week, though. A whole string of partly cloudy, rainless days are predicted. This time of year, partly cloudy usually means a few minutes of sunlight every hour or so. I'll probably sleep through most of them. Oh, January.
