The first full moon of spring will arrive Sunday, but it might get rained out. In exchange for no moon, I'll get faster growth from my foxtails, but then I'll also get softer ground for a few days so I can pull them up more easily. All in all, I'd still rather get to see the full moon.
Since my brain is too unfocused to write, here's YouTube linkage:
Bunk Johnson; Panama
Bessie Smith; Trombone Cholly
Jelly Roll Morton; King Porter Stomp
Sidney Bechet; Petite Fleur
Fats Waller; Everybody Loves My Baby

Date: 2011-04-17 09:45 am (UTC)Jelly Roll made more than a dozen piano rolls. I don't know how many of them have been put on to records, though. The clean sound of this version of The Pearls indicates a digital recording from a piano roll.
He could sing, too: Honky Tonk Blues.

Date: 2011-04-17 12:11 pm (UTC)that version of Ball & Chain blows me away. i'd only heard janis joplin sing it, but she was never a favorite of mine. it always sounded like she was trying to ruin her voice as fast as humanly possibly. big mama simply had power out the wazoo. errr, so to speak.
