It's difficult for me to contain my disappointment over the fact that I didn't get a piece of the satellite that crashed during the night. I was so looking forward to having a chunk of it fall in my yard, but it looks like it all fell into the Pacific Ocean. In fact, I was hoping that the biggest piece would crash into the leach lines of my septic system, damaging them beyond repair, and then I could get the whole leach field rebuilt, and bill NASA for it.

That's about the only way I'll ever be able to afford the rebuilding without years of scrimping to pay for it— and it probably will have to be rebuilt within the next couple of years. I don't think there are any more satellites scheduled to come down during that period. It's time to find a backup plan. Maybe one of those will fall out of the sky.

The clouds that are supposed to keep tomorrow relatively cool began to arrive this afternoon. They've given the afternoon light a rather depressing dimness, but maybe they'll provide a colorful sunset as compensation. Not that a cooler day alone would be insufficient compensation, but a nice sunset would be a thoughtful bonus. A better bonus would be if the clouds dropped a little bit of rain, and kept the lightning to themselves. Since I didn't get any fallen satellite, I think I deserve some rainfall, at least.

Do you STILL WANT LOBSTERS? It occurs to me that I never got back to you on that. Send me your address and I will e-mail you a propper New English clambake, and pots. I really like you, man, and it pains me to know you haven't known the taste of a real lobster.

I would like to rectify that.

Also, eat before the septic system goes kerflooey. That may ruin the experience.
