One of the reasons I got an on line journal was to put myself in a position where I would feel compelled to write something every day. I tend to slack a lot when I try to write on paper. If I'm going to stay in practice, I need some sort of goad. Or goat. (Hi, Frank.) And it has worked. I do write something every day. The bad news, of course, is that some days I write something dull. The post I wrote last night is a good example. Sometimes I have thought that it might be a good idea to make these dull posts private, so as not to inflict them on everyone. But then I have thought that, if I make only the interesting posts public, then my life will seem unduly attractive, and I might provoke the deadly sin of envy in some readers and then where would I be. A promoter of the dullest of sins! So I decided that there was no good reason for me to conceal the fact that, most of the time, I'm really, really boring. Trust me. It's all for the best. When you have read through one of these incredibly dull posts, just think, "my life could be this dull!" Then you will rejoice in the good fortune of not being me, and I will be the promoter of joy. It works out well for everyone.

I don't find you dull at all. Sorry. You're more like an enigma. Personally, I'd like to be one - an enigma, I mean.

No...Not Dull at all!

What is this, performance anxiety from the man himself? I expected better.

I didn't read it that way (fishing) at all....Among the many other qualities your postings have that I enjoy is your very special and often subtle sense of humor. It is gentle and wise!

I had to look up conundrum. I have a short vocabulary and an even shorter memory. Now I feel better. It's clear that you're both.

Sez Edgar Allen Poe:

"....If any ambitious man have a fancy to revolutionize, at one effort, the universal world of human thought, human opinion, and human sentiment, the opportunity is his own- the road to immortal renown lies straight, open, and unencumbered before him. All that he has to do is to write and publish a very little book. Its title should be simple- a few plain words- 'My Heart Laid Bare.' But- this little book must be true to its title."

I think you owe it to yourself and to your readers to post the dull as well as the exciting (not that I consider anything you've written to be dull).

Your posts are undoubtedly the best written on my friends page. You use descriptive, emotive, emotional and nostalgic language to great effect in almost every post. I think have a better idea of what your world is like than anyone elses. Remember, though, not every post has to be brilliant - in fact, your journal doesn't *have* to be anything. It is *your journal* and you can write whatever you like in it.
