The rain arrived last night, but only sprinkles fell before I fell asleep. Early this morning I heard the downspouts spouting, so it must have rained pretty hard for a while, but by the time I got up it was back to sprinkling. There were more sprinkles through the morning, but the sun emerged this afternoon. The day never warmed up, though, and it's going to be a damp and chilly night.

The storm has passed and there's supposed to be no more chance of rain for the next few days, but the ground got a good enough soaking that I won't have to water the plants until Saturday, if then. Currently the next chance of rain is forecast for Monday, so maybe I won't have to water for more than a week. The days will be getting a bit warmer again, though, so it should be quite pleasant tomorrow through Sunday. I expect I'll have the furnace going by night, though— tonight certainly, and maybe for the rest of the week.

It's feeling so autumnal that I had soup for lunch today. It's the first lunch of soup for several months, and was a very nice change from the usual sandwiches. I'm not sure about dinner tonight. There are leftovers to use up, but it's such a perfect night for spicy chili that I'm undecided. Either way, there's nothing certain about dinner but beer and indigestion.

There was something else I was going to write about tonight, but the rain must have washed it right out of my head. Maybe it will return with the sun tomorrow, or maybe it's gone forever, along with any number of synapses.

I sure wish I'd been wide awake for that downpour early this morning. I hate to miss those.

We had rain up here too, and today was cool and drizzly until the sun came out mid-PM. I had soup for lunch too! Tomorrow I'm planning on pho for lunch. Mmmm, noodles in broth.

How cold do you let it get before you turn on the furnace? We have these heaters -- which I've probably carped about to you before -- that just blow hot air out of the wall vents like blow dryers. I don't like them nearly as much as central heat.

Yeah, that's the range I used to go for with my central heat. Remember the old days, when people would heat their houses to 75? I sure do!

The Winter Soldier in my icon salutes you!
