Dull

Well, I've fed my feral cats and now they are busy converting my money into turds. This is their purpose. It's a discipline, like poetry or the martial arts. They are also fun to watch, and I enjoy having them rub their faces against my ankles. There's something very comforting about that.

It was intermittently cloudy, and the day didn't quite reach a state of balminess, but tomorrow probably will. I'm hoping that the house will be able to absorb enough solar heat tomorrow that I can turn the furnace back off for a while. It ran quite a bit today, and I bemoaned all the money that was being burned which might have been put to better use by having the cats turn it into turds.

However, the chilliness makes for good sleeping weather, and last night I managed to sleep for about seven hours, with only a brief interruption around five o'clock when I woke up long enough to see a weather report and turn the television off. Sadly, I fell asleep before turning the computer off last night and failed to remember that it was still running when I was awake this morning, so it ran all night, and as I didn't want to give it a rest after I got up today it's been running ever since. It probably wants a nap now, so I'm going to turn it off. Then I can turn the television back on and eat a bowl of soup.

Not the most interesting day, I know, but that can't be helped. Maybe something interesting will happen tomorrow. But I wouldn't count on it.

Oh, cats, with their spellbinding ways. I probably should've acquired another one by now, but I really don't want to have to deal with litter boxes evey again!

Yes, litter boxes are a major issue with cats. And shredded upholstery. And cat butts on the kitchen counter. And cupboard doors opened and the contents of the cupboards disarrayed. And things knocked off of shelves. And contretemps over a place to nap because your favorite spot has already been catnapped. And being watched with guilt-inducing eyes when you eat. And blood-curdling, ear-piercing shrieks because of paws or tails trodden upon in the dark. And slimy (or dessicated) hairballs appearing in the most inconvenient places. And fur shed everywhere.

All forgotten in a purr, of course.

That's the damnedest thing about cats -- they can be so annoying, but every little thing about them pleases me (except the litter boxes and hairballs). I love their pointy ears and beautiful eyes, etc. It has never been a mystery to me why the Egyptians had statues of cat gods!
