I slept the middle out of St. Gertrude's Day, after eating the traditional macaroni an cheese dinner for breakfast. Thanks to daylight saving time it was still daytime when I woke up after five in the evening. Thanks to unseasonable warmth it was pleasant to sit in the back yard and listen to birds singing and only slightly unpleasant to try to ignore the cars passing along the freeway. Sneezing out pollen was not pleasant at all, of course, but no day is ever perfect.

Later, when I went to check the mailbox, I saw the last full moon of winter rising. The vernal equinox is on the 20th, so the little storm that might or might not pass through on Saturday will be the last of winter. Spring, I fear, will feel a bit anticlimactic this year, though it will start out with a week of days several of which will qualify as hot. Nights, though, will continue to be chilly, so it's unlikely I'll be needing to turn the air conditioner on just yet.

As for my brain, I doubt the change (such as it is) of seasons will do anything to improve it. It still balks at being engaged, and seems to keep napping even when I am wide awake. And then when it does get active, it always seems to be when I want to go to sleep, or get back to sleep, and then it just gibbers away mindlessly. My brain has a mind of its own, but it's a deranged one. Too much Internet, probably. Or not enough alcohol.

More sleep now, if possible.
