Stillness

Tonight the silence of this place is almost palpable. It hangs in the cool air like a scent, or the brush of a breeze. Not even a dog barks. I hold my breath for a moment. If I were to make a sound now, the world would shatter like glass.

Down the Digital Tubes

I just got an e-mail from MTV, saying that as of October 19th, they will be shutting down their e-mail service. Hmph. I seldom used that address for anything, anyway, so I won't miss it. But it makes me wonder how much longer other free e-mail services will be lasting. Whole great bunches of web services, just vanishing. Looks like the free ride is derailed.
