The worthless little bugger just crashed and ate a post which took me half an hour to write. I don't have time todo it again, so here is the short version: go to this photogrphic web site and click on the link for Manuel Alvarez Bravo. He is a 99 year old Mexican photographer who currently has an exhibit at the Getty Institute. Check that out, too. If you are in Los Angeles, go see it!

I'm not actually ignoring the comments everyone is making in my journal. Only, Sluggo has taken to crashing so often that I run out of time before I run out of responses. He eats a lot of stuff that I try to post, too. But there might be some new components after the first of the year. Depends on what I can work out. In the meantime, my apologies for seeming to ignore you. I am trying to keep up with the reading.

Break

After sunset, a break in the clouds revealed the crescent moon settling toward the west. It looks so relaxed this time of year, the way it leans back. Just hangin' out, kickin' back, as mellow as it can be.

Later, the clouds settled onto the ridge and everthing was softened by the diaphanous fog. Glowing windows lose their hard edges, the light forming a vignette around them, tinting the night with a vaguely nostalgic quality. The looming dark shapes of the ponderosas continue to drip the remains of the recent rains onto the saturated ground. Night settles into serenity.
