Weird Day

Yesterday was very strange. I woke up to the sound of a car radio blasting gibberish outside my window (talk radio- make it die) and my cat sneezed in my eye. Since I am allergic to cat dander, my eye was itchy and swollen for hours. Then, nothing happened at its normal time all day and all night, and I ended up falling asleep about three in the morning, and just now woke up groggy and confused with all the things I was supposed to do still not done. Oh, yeah. The toaster is sending out clouds of smelly smoke, not from anything in it. It just wants to burst into flame. All the appliances in the house are out to get me. It was bound to happen, eventually. They've gotten too smart for us. The revolution is here. Quick! Unplug everything before it is too late! Eeeaaargh... Look out for those batteries!

Before dawn, as I stood on my porch, I heard a strange bird call from the rainy sky. It was very high pitched, higher than a gull's cry, and moving very fast. It was repeated almost constantly, and answered by more calls from birds following behind it. At least four birds passed. Although I stepped off the porch and looked up into the rain, I did not see them. Perhaps they were the same color as the dim grey sky, or flying so high that they vanished in the windblown clouds. If they were that high, the calls must have been vey loud to have reached me. This afternoon, only the crows and the usual smaller birds are about, and they tell me nothing of the mystery birds who flew over this morning.
