A flourish of bird songs. I like the way the trees emerge from the darkness. I'd like more time to watch them. Busy days, busy nights. A calming soon, I hope. Too many demands on your time, time will take revenge.

All afternoon the sky was clear. I could look southeast and see a hint of grey haze over the valley, and, in the northeast, there were billowing white clouds over the mountains. But here, the sunlight poured down on field and wood and filtered through leafy trees to dapple lawns and flower beds. The azaleas are in full bloom, and the roses that began to bud just a few days ago are now bursting forth. The dogwoods are more leaf than flower now, and their fallen petals carpet the paths beside the roads. I saw more than a dozen butterflies fluttering about a clump of purple flowers down the street. The weather has been good for the grass, and lawns everywhere are growing rapidly. Now, with evening coming on, a few white clouds have formed overhead and in the west. Some of them are partly veiling the declining sun, and the western sky is shimmering with translucent streaks of grey and lavender. Time for a quiet hour outdoors.
