The spring nights are, as is usual here, rather cool, and I still need to wear a jacket when I go out at night to look at the stars. The spring sky is worth a bit of chill, though. The bright dust of the Milky Way is directly overhead, now, and the comfortingly familiar Big Dipper is in a good viewing position, well above the northern horizon. It was the first constellation I ever learned to recognize, and I enjoy watching it make its procession across the sky each night. I am always struck by how light so ancient nevertheless brings me a sense of freshness and renewal.

Don't mind me, I'm just maundering. )
