Blue Hour

This is the time poised between night and day when the sky is painted only in shades of blue. Above, there are high clouds of powder blue, floating in cobalt light. Along the southern horizon lie bands of lower clouds in a deep shade of steel blue that is almost grey. In the east, there is the faintest hint of lavender blue, which will soon turn pink. A few stars still shine, and the crescent moon has not yet paled. This is the most serene of skies, which lies over a world just glimmering out of shadow, where nothing stirs, where the birds have yet to wake and sing. I'd like to hold back the dawn a little longer, and savor the stillness, washed in soft, dim blue.

Not surprisingly, I have nothing to say today. However, I do have another picture from the foggy day. I've always liked to see utility poles heading off toward nowhere. That they are about to be engulfed by fog makes them even more appealing.
