I did actually write an entry this morning, but the heat caused Sluggo to vomit it up rather than post it, so I just made the quick entry with the link to Fay Wray's obituary.

The very next item on my friends page was this link to a Scientific American article about some new windows which admit light but resist penetration by heat. I need those.

It's even hotter now. No time to try to reconstruct this morning's lost entry. It all fades like a dream. Later this evening, air conditioner. Right now, we're at risk of blackout.

Oppressive

The enervating day, the melancholy dusk, then night full of manic crickets, and rigid trees carving vast shadows out of the sky. Air like vaporized stone. I wonder that the mountains are not crushed, that I do not hear the burdened soil groan.
