I watched the last two thirds (didn't know it was on) of a 1987 version of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie which was directed by Paul Newman and starred Joanne Woodward as Amanda, with John Malkovitch as Tom. I prefer it to either of the other filmed versions of this terribly sad tale that I've seen. "Menagerie" was Williams' first big stage success and, though it seems in some ways a rather slight play in comparison to his later work, it's certainly worth knowing. I have no idea how I didn't even know this version existed, except that I wasn't paying much attention to movies in 1987. I had other things to do. More puzzling is why I haven't found out about it until now. Where have they been hiding it for eighteen years?
After that, I spent a couple of hours cheating on LiveJournal with other web sites. I hope Brad doesn't get all weepy, or throw hard drives at me.
