Goodbye to Spring
Jun. 21st, 2006 04:53 amThe birds are chirping the arrival of the longest day of the year. Summer Solstice already. After the last week of heat, it seems anticlimactic. Spring has been lying on the browned lawn, unconscious, gasping its final breaths for quite a while now- road-kill along the highway to global warming. I feel as though I've been whacked by the same speeding SUV. And things were going so semi-well just a couple of weeks ago.
There's one bit of good news, though. It isn't the wall socket that quit working. Apparently, the surge protector I had plugged into it died and shut down. All I need is a new surge protector and the audio equipment will be back in operation. That's a lot cheaper than new wiring.
A gnat just tried to drown itself in my water glass. An omen for summer.
