Nicely Dull
Sep. 2nd, 2006 04:22 pmSeptember's sky has gone soft, big patches of cirrus filtering the afternoon sun. They aren't the sort of clouds apt to stick around for evening, though. The sunset will most likely be dull. My backyard walk will show me the usual drab view of treetops being swallowed by gray dusk. I'd like something lurid for a change. I wish that hurricane in Baja California would push its way north so I could get a glimpse of its fringes at least. Not much chance of that, though. An afternoon of feathered cirrus is the most drama I'm likely to get from summer's declining days. I doubt we'll even get a decent breeze. Despite the fact that my joints are still stiff and sore, and I don't know how they will react to a change in the weather, I'm hoping for an early onset of Autumn's storms. I recall Septembers here that were drenched with rain. Even one little storm would please me now, just to end this monotony. If my knees stop working, so be it. I've had enough of summer.
