The cat enjoys the summer dusk. Lots of small flying creatures emerge to populate the balmy air, just asking to be chased. Not finding insects so tasty myself, I prefer to sit and watch kitty leap and swat. She seldom catches anything, and when she does I choose not to watch the subsequent events. The evenings provide alternative views. Once the treetops have lost the last flecks of light I know the stars are about to appear. For the last year I've been reluctant to spend much time viewing them, though, due to the fact that my neck is now apt to try to fling my head from my body (a slight exaggeration.) But I've now acquired a solution to the problem. Yes, I have come into possession of an actual chaise lounge! It was essential for the viewing of the giant meteors that are about to crash into the earth! (or at least be visible from it). No longer will my tricky neck deny me the pleasure of seeing little streaks of light intermittently decorating the night sky!

And for those unfortunate enough to be in places blinded by fog or clouds, here is Internets-based entertainment in the form of results of the 2007 Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest, including this delightful winner in the Children's Literature division:
"Danny, the little Grizzly cub, frolicked in the tall grass on this sunny Spring morning, his mother keeping a watchful eye as she chewed on a piece of a hiker they had encountered the day before."

Now I go set up my chaise lounge, just in case there are any early arrivals.
