What looked like a summer haze this afternoon has turned to patches of milky clouds tonight. One now hazes the waning moon, which looks as though it were shining through a vast cobweb. The air is barely cool. A pair of frogs are croaking a nocturnal duet, as they have been for the last few nights. So far I don't hear any crickets. Any day now.

Gray cat is still coming to nap in the afternoons. He got closer today than he has in a long time. His fur looks pretty badly matted in places. He has no idea that if he were a bit more trusting he could get brushed every day.
