It's still chilly enough for some of the neighbors to have fires going in the evening, but I'm not going to be annoyed by the smoke. There'll be worse than a bit of wood smoke soon enough. For now, the sneezing has not yet begun. Each such sneeze-less day is a gift this time of year. The weekend is expected to bring considerable warmth, and then the clouds of pollen will begin drifting about. The other night, the pine trees next door dropped about two dozen cones. Any day now the yellow pine dust will arrive. It usually plagues us for two or three weeks. A good rain will finish it off early, and I hope we get one.
Gray kitty paid only brief visits during the recent inclemency, but was back this afternoon to nap where the poppies will soon bloom. He looks like he's doing fairly well. The white-faced cat was here later in the evening. I'm glad they didn't show up at the same time. It would be an especially bad time for the gray cat to be getting into a fight.
