The striped cat has not returned with or without her kittens. The gray cat hasn't been around today either. He probably knows where striped cat is and is pestering her. My injured raccoon didn't even show up last night. The food left out was uneaten by any beast until this morning, when the black and white cat snagged it. I don't know of the raccoon has recovered enough that it doesn't need to come here to sleep, or if it was too sick to get here, or if it died, or if it found some other place to stay. All I know is that my back yard was deserted last night, and the only cat I've seen is the black and white (I guess I'm going to have to give her a name now that she's effectively moved into my garage.)

Oh, wait. The gray cat just showed up. He was making his mating call, so I guess he doesn't know where striped cat has gone either. Now he's lying on the walk in the back yard, looking very sad.

Well, I did say I wanted my back yard back. Now I want the kittens back. I'm going to be worried about them, especially whenever I hear coyotes howling at night. Be careful what you wish for, I guess.
