Blasted

The cicadas are buzzing in the bushes right outside my window. The cats are not eating them! Maybe I should stop putting out cat food and they'll get hungry enough to devour the noisy insects. The racket of the cicadas, the lingering heat, and the ever-earlier nightfall are three of my least favorite things about late summer. August and September are dismal months. I have to endure them, but I don't want to think about them. I miss May.
