Enduring Summer
Sep. 23rd, 2009 11:18 pmAcorns are falling more frequently, and the squirrels are out in greater numbers. If I ate squirrel or acorns I'd be feasting this time of year. Instead, I only had spaghetti for dinner. Money is getting tighter, though, so I might have to begin eating squirrel or acorns eventually. If money gets really tight, the feral cats might have to look for wild food too. Or maybe they could return the favor I've been doing them and bring me a few of their kills. I doubt that Portia is much of a hunter of anything other than empty laps.
The night breezes are nice, if a bit languid. We're reaching the peak of the current hot spell Friday, and it's supposed to be no lower than 68 degrees tonight. I hope the house cools off enough that I don't fall asleep on the couch. Doing that always leaves me with a sore neck.
