The rain, they now say, will be delayed until Friday, so I won't get wet when I go get my head yanked tomorrow. This afternoon there was even sunshine, and one of the feral cats was sunning himself on a rock next door. He remained even after the light left the rock. The rock's thermal mass doubtlessly retained some heat. I wish my house had more thermal mass. I'm burning gas like it was free.

The last leaves clinging to the mulberry tree are unable to prevent the sun from filling my room for an hour each afternoon. That's a nice perk of the early cold. Some years the leaves cling in great numbers clear through December. One for the cold.
