Gusty autumn winds nearly caused Portia's tail to be caught in the door as she was going out to the garage this afternoon. She has learned that she can push the door open if it isn't completely latched. I happened to be nearby in the garage when she came out, and I saw the door start to slam shut, but I was close enough to stick my hand in the narrowing space before her tail got caught. Unfortunately my fingers got caught instead, and a couple of them are now quite sore, so I have to be careful of those fingers while using the keyboard. It's tedious. Stupid cat.

Anyway. The house is smelling fresher than it has of late, thanks to the warm day that allowed me to leave the windows open for several hours. The worst thing about cool weather is that the house ends up getting stuffy from being closed up. The gusty winds are nice, though, despite the fact that they have brought down more leaves, so I soon must wield the rake again. It should be warm all week, so at least the afternoons should be good raking weather.

In 1919, a theater called the Cinema, located in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, was being operated by a fellow with the delightful name Montague Duck. This is a random bit of information I ran across on the Internet. Well, I found it in the Google cache of a web page that has since vanished. Lest Mr. Duck's presence on the Internet be lost forever, I have repeated his name here. It's the least I could do.
