Appointed

Another rumpled sky bringing another drizzle. The driveway gleams like black Vitrolite in the dusk, and the iris droops its pointy leaves. All the birds have gone to bed, but the cat sits in the garage and watches the empty lawn where they lately pecked. She didn't get to go outside until after they had gone. Life is full of disappointments. Not for me at the moment, though. I have lasagna. Who could be disappointed when they have lasagna, and their driveway looks like black Vitrolite?
