Farah's kittens have survived so far. They sleep most of the time, and when they aren't sleeping or eating they are clambering over one another. Their eyes aren't open yet, of course. They'll probably be very surprised when they see me looking at them. Hey, you're not my mom! Are you? They'll have to go through a couple more very chilly nights, but they will soon get to experience their first really warm days. It's going to get into the 70s by Saturday. It's about time, too, that being the last day of April.

With a litter of kittens living next to it, I have no idea when I'll be able to get the back lawn mowed. The mower would freak Farah out for sure, not to mention terrifying the kittens. The grass is getting so long, too. Well, mostly it's weeds that are getting long, and a lot of them are foxtails. I pulled a couple of hundred out by hand this afternoon, but that barely made a dent in the crop. Most years they just get mowed, which is probably why they come back every year. Yanking them all by hand might lead to a better lawn next year.

Unfortunately, after pulling up thousands of foxtails, I probably wouldn't survive to see next year's lawn. My back is already trying to kill me. In fact I can't sit at the computer another minute.
