While I'm in no way eager for the arrival of another sweltering Sierra summer, it's nonetheless distressing to have the last day of May be so gray, chilly, and wet. It might as well be Portland. I might be saving a few cents on my water bill, but I'm burning dollars worth of gas to stay barely warm. And I'd swear the kittens were shivering as they ate their dinner this afternoon.

Now I'm watching smoke rise from the chimney of the house across the street, when it would be so much more pleasant to be watching shadows lengthen, and the evening sun's light burnishing the trees. But today, no sun, no shadows. I'm going to go eat dinner, and then sulk. Here's music to sulk by.
