Lump It

This afternoon I had to water the rose bushes because the ground around them had completely dried. The feral cats enjoyed the event. Timmy even drank some of the muddy water, despite the fact that I'd just filled both of the water bowls. I'm sure the cats are delighted by this mild weather. Me, not so much. Almost two weeks into January with only traces of rain, and this following a mostly dry December. It does not bode well for the rest of the rainy season, and bodes worse for the summer fire season.

I also forgot to check the date on my milk before I went shopping Sunday, and this evening I had to throw out half a carton that had gone sour and lumpy. Now I have to decide on something other than macaroni and cheese for dinner. I might end up just opening a can of soup, as I don't feel like attempting anything elaborate, and I've already eaten this week's can of chili beans.

It's remarkable how the weather manages to remain just cold enough to be uncomfortable, but is still warm enough to make flowers bloom. Maybe I should have been a flower instead of a cold-hating beast. Macaroni and cheese would have been a perfect dinner for this chilly evening. Stupid milk.
