It's amazing how fast the temperature can drop. The warmish rain falling at midnight last night had been replaced with falling slush by five o'clock in the morning, and dawn revealed a world rimed with hard frost. It was the closest thing to snow I've seen all year, but it was gone within two hours. Then afternoon was all aglitter with sun showers and jeweled trees, and the air vibrated with bird chatter.

I almost fell asleep on the couch again after dinner, but the feral cats woke me when they began romping about on the rooftop. All evening I've been in an inexplicable state of anticipation, even though I'm sure that nothing is going to happen. It's like there's atomized adrenaline floating in the air. Maybe that's what made the cats romp.

Because tomorrow is trash day I was able to use some of my excess energy to put the wheelie bins out, but enough remains that I'll probably have to do something drastic such as vacuum the floors. When vacuuming I always fear that the aged carpet will disintegrate and vanish into the bag. There's probably not much chance that this will actually happen, though, as the aged vacuum cleaner has so little suction left in it.

Oh, everything here is falling apart, but I've cheered myself up with this video by OK Go. I saw it for the first time last night by accident while channel surfing. It made me smile.
